I stopped laughing a long time ago

They say the only reason Filipinos stay sane even when their world has fallen apart is their ability to laugh at themselves and to find humor in any situation they’re in. It is also true that once Pinoys stop laughing… then there’s trouble brewing.

I think that is the flip side to our resilient natures. We are far more flexible than the bamboo, our patient souls much more yielding and pliable than clay; our tortured consciousness so easily appeased… but everything has a breaking point. When the inevitable cannot be denied its moment.

If Marx believed religion is the opiate of the masses, then I declare that laughter is the shabu of the filipino massess. But why are some people still laughing? Are they laughing with us or at us? Do we still find our situation amusing?

Or could it be that we stopped caring a long time ago?

Or could it be that we have started lying to ourselves?

Or could it be that we have been reduced to the fulfillment of the most basic of needs: survival?

Or could it be that we have drowned in our own sorrows?

Or could it be our fear of the silence that follows after the laughter has died? The realization that something has to be done, that someone has to do something.

The realization that the inevitable has no punchline.

Mothers for peace

Hi World,

Perhaps we should have 1 day where we tell our children, our children’s children to end the violence even for one day. Whether we are christians, muslims, atheists, leftists, anarchist, buddhists, hindu, pessimists, optimists… we need to call upon our flesh and blood to stop it.

End the violence in IRAQ, End the violence in Afghanistan, End the violence in Darfur, End the violence in the WORLD.

Mothers of the world, please unite for change.

PISSEDology 101

1. You have the right to get pissed. Hell yeah.

2. When you do get ultra pissed - know this: depending on your personality - it can either strengthen your resolve, make you act like a spineless rat, or wear you down.

3. You must decide the amount of time that you will let a person, event, memory, conversation, a**@@ho$@##le, piss you off or annoy you. Have a deadline people!

4. Once you decide that you CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE, spring into action and do something to resolve it. Sometimes I just piss the hell out of the person more, or give a straightshooting reply or shake hands on it or… as long as its not violent and won’t get you on the evening news people.

** IMPORTANTE** Decide on how long you will let yourself be annoyed by that something someone, somewhere.

period.

oh yeah, on more thing. Pick a vegetable. Pick one and wonder how it grew out of a seed.

We sleep with our identities/consciousness intact. What if we loose it when we wake up?

You forget who you are…

Current obsession - Nessun Dorma

The Prince
Nessun dorma, nessun dorma …
Tu pure, o Principessa,
Nella tua fredda stanza,
Guardi le stelle
Che tremano d’amore
E di speranza.
No one sleeps, no one sleeps…
Even you, o Princess,
In your cold room,
Watch the stars,
That tremble with love
And with hope.
Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me,
Il nome mio nessun saprà, no, no,
Sulla tua bocca lo dirò
Quando la luce splenderà,
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio
Che ti fa mia.
But my secret is hidden within me;
My name no one shall know, no, no,
On your mouth I will speak it*
When the light shines,
And my kiss will dissolve the silence
That makes you mine.
Chorus
Il nome suo nessun saprà
E noi dovrem, ahimè, morir.
No one will know his name
And we must, alas, die.
The Prince
Dilegua, o notte!
Tramontate, stelle!
All’alba vincerò!
Vanish, o night!
Set**, stars!
At daybreak, I shall conquer!
